Applied on machining tools,
and some punches and dies
S-PVD coating is similar to that of TiN coating expect for the fact that it has a higher thickness than of TiN coating i.e. 4 to 8 microns compared to 2 to 4 microns of that of TiN coating.
It is wear resistant and is suitable for a wide range of applications. The friction coefficient helps chip flow and prevents build up of work piece material. It also reduces tool temperature and is used in metal stamping and forming dies and punches.
The color is similar to that of TiN i.e. Gold. The oxidation temperature is 1,022°F/ 550°F and has a hardness of 2,600HV. The friction co-efficient is 0.45.
Based on application there could be different coatings that could be applied to a particular tool. Please give us a call and our engineers will help manage your coating needs.
